Who am I?

My name is Łukasz Wróbel and I’ve been working in the IT industry since 2006. In my career, I’ve worked for several companies, among which some provided services for millions of active users.

I came quite a long way, which can be summarized as: junior developer → senior developer → team leader → architect → manager of tens of developers → educator of new leaders and managers.

I got a bachelor’s degree in computer science from University of Wrocław, Computer Science Institute, Poland.

My Interests

First of all, I’m interested in software development and everything related to it. I like to extend my knowledge of design patterns, object-oriented design and good practices. Since I’m an advocate of automated testing, I explore new testing frameworks and concepts. Because I like teaching, I often share my knowledge with others.

I love to listen to the music played by my favorite bands which include Iron Maiden, R.E.M., Metallica and The Smashing Pumpkins. My other interests include military aviation and LEGO.

Flexibility

I often emphasize my dislike of being tied to one programming language. It’s because I’m interested in general ideas and algorithms rather than specific technologies. To me, developers should be responsible for solving problems, not for writing code in the X programming language.

To some extent it’s because of my university education. I had to learn many different programming languages and I realized that a specific technology is not the goal itself, it’s only one of the ways to reach it. I consider being familiar with many technologies as an advantage simply because it makes choosing the most suitable solution much easier.

Purpose
